WHEN AND WHERE:

The Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground will set the scene for our first match of the season, with kick-off scheduled for 13:00 (UK) on Sunday, 27 August.

The fixture will be shown live on the FA Player, which is free to access worldwide.

You can also keep across all of the action via londoncitylionesses.com, with live coverage available from our official Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok accounts.

PREVIOUS MEETING:

Sarah Ewens, Atlanta Primus, and Lily Agg wrote their names onto the scoresheet to fire London City to a 3-1 win in our last meeting with the Black Cats, which saw us complete a season sweep over Sunderland.

CAROLINA MORACE’S PREVIEW:

In a recent interview with Stats Perform, Carolina Morace revealed that the squad is optimistic ahead of kick-off.

“We want to do our best,” said the Italian earlier this week, “the aim is of course to win something. We have recruited some very good players [and] the young players that we have are the players that we chose.

“We didn’t have time to work with the whole team during preseason, but the players we have want to learn and they are adaptable. They are eager to play for us and that is a positive for us.

“I think it is special to be [one of the only] independent clubs because we are a young club with very high ambitions, which was one of the motivations that caused me to choose this team. It would be amazing to achieve promotion here and that is what we will try to do. We are working hard to achieve something important.”

NEXT HOME MATCH:

After we return from the North East, our attention will immediately turn to our home opener against Watford on Sunday, 3 September.

It promises to be a brilliant match, with junior tickets available for a quid.
