Paige Satchell is back.

The New Zealand international returned to the starting line-up with a bang on Sunday [3 March], launching London City Lionesses’ comeback win over Reading in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Satchell scored in the 54th minute, rattling a shot under the arm of Emily Orman on the second phase of a corner delivery.

After the match, we caught up with our speedy Kiwi.

Your first start for a while and you marked it with a goal, you must be happy with that?

Yeah, I’m super excited to start back and get some minutes in my legs. It’s obviously great for us to get the win, it’s really crucial for us at the moment. I thought the girls played really well and that we dominated the first-half, we just couldn’t put those chances away. I’m super stoked to have come out in the second-half and be a little bit more clinical with it.

It was gutting to concede right on half-time, what was the message at half-time and how did it compare to the message in the huddle at the end?

I mean, we put in a good performance up until that goal, so it was disappointing to concede. We just needed to stay calm and composed because we knew that the goals would come, that was the main message.

It was your first time playing up front with Nicole Douglas, how was that experience?

Yeah, it was great – it was nice to play with Dougie and learn how we work off each other. She’s super technical and I love to get in behind, so there was a good dynamic between us. I’m looking forward to us getting more time together.

Looking ahead to the next game against Sunderland in a couple of weeks, does this result give you confidence?

I think so, definitely. We put on a really good performance and getting the points is always super helpful. We’ve struggled to put our chances away, so we’ll take a lot of confidence going forward from here.

We're back in action on Sunday, 17 March, hosting table-topping Sunderland A.F.C. at Princes Park. Secure your tickets today!
