Nigeria international Rofiat Imuran joins London City Lionesses on three-year contract

We’re excited to announce that Rofiat Imuran has joined London City Lionesses on a free transfer, signing a three-year contract at Hayes Lane.

The 20-year-old arrives in the capital following two successful seasons with Stade de Reims, which saw her help the Red and Whites secure consecutive top six finishes in the French Première Ligue.

Internationally, Imuran is a key player for Nigeria and was selected to represent the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Ibadan-born winger, who joined first-team training earlier this week, will be available for selection on Sunday [13 October], as Jocelyn Prêcheur’s side face Charlton Athletic at Hayes Lane in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

“I have explained in the past that to develop this team we really wanted to focus on two profiles – experienced players who can lead and young players with huge talent and potential,” the Frenchman explained.

“Rofiat fits into the second category. She already has brilliant experience and playing at the Under-20 World Cup was a wonderful opportunity for her to learn more. She’s very fast, left-footed, and likes to attack the space behind the defenders.

“Rofiat still needs to develop, but this is a very good opportunity for us to help her improve. She can play every position on the left and will contribute offensively this season.”

Added Imuran: “I’m very excited to join London City Lionesses and start a new chapter in my career in England. Everyone has been so welcoming since I arrived and I look forward to being able to help the team on the pitch.

“I wanted to come to London City because the coach presented an interesting project and I wanted a different challenge.”
