Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah scored for the second weekend in a row to fire London City Lionesses to victory over Barclays Women’s Championship rivals Bristol City.
Jocelyn Prêcheur made two alterations to the team that overcame Blackburn Rovers last weekend, replacing Grace Neville and Lucy Fitzgerald with Maddi Wilde and debutant Sofia Jakobsson.
The Pride started quickly and never looked back, with Charlène Meyong and Julia Roddar controlling the pace of play in midfield.
Boye-Hlorkah broke the deadlock in unbelievable style, spotting Bristol City goalkeeper Fran Bentley outside her penalty area and looping an audacious shot into the net from the 45-yard mark.
Jakobsson doubled London City’s advantage five minutes later, in the 21st minute, breaking inside from the right flank and arcing the ball into the bottom right corner.
Bristol City stood firm for the remainder of the afternoon, and halved the hosts’ lead through Amalie Thestrup after the interval, but were unable to turn the tide at Hayes Lane.
The Pride return to the London Borough of Bromley in a fortnight’s time, hosting Portsmouth in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
