OPPOSITION REPORT:

The Addicks underwent a significant transformation over the summer, adding the likes of Karin Muya and Kate Longhurst to an already impressive roster.

With Karen Hills at the helm, Charlton have made impressive strides in recent years and entered the new season with ambitions to challenge at the top of the table.

While Charlton’s early results have been a mixed bag, they closed out the first block of fixtures with a hard-fought win over Birmingham City at St. Andrews and return from the international break with newfound confidence.

Longhurst has quickly adapted to life in the Championship and has thrived since joining the South London outfit from West Ham United in the summer.

The 34-year-old has been the beating heart of the Addicks’ midfield this term, developing early chemistry with Carla Humphrey in the centre of the park.

Also of note – the joint winner of last season’s Golden Boot, Melissa Johnson. While the 1991-born forward is yet to get off the mark this season, she remains a constant threat in the penalty area and is bound to break her drought soon.

“The international break gives us a chance to reset,” said Hills last month.

“We’ve got some players going away on international duty so we wish them all the best. It feels good to get that first win of the season. We’ll regroup and be ready for London City Lionesses.”
