London City Lionesses sign defender Corinne Henson

London City Lionesses is thrilled to announce the arrival of defender Corinne Henson from Barclays Women’s Championship rivals Watford, subject to Football Association clearance.

The 20-year-old arrives at Princes Park with a range of professional experience, including spells as a forward, midfielder, and defender with Charlton Athletic and Watford.

“She is a young player who has lots of positive qualities in ball possession,” said head coach Carolina Morace.

"Corinne still has room to improve because she is at the start of her career, but we are happy that she decided to join us. She is a very versatile player who is naturally left-footed, which is important for us tactically."

While Henson started her career as a wide forward, she has since honed her skills in a variety of deeper roles, including in central defence.

The English and American dual-national is known for her physical presence and composure on the ball, with the ability to make a positive impact at both ends of the field.

"It's been really good to join the group and meet all of the girls," said Henson, "the longer term vision of the Club and the work that is happening behind the scenes is really exciting and creates a brilliant opportunity for me to show what I can do in the Championship.

"I have played in lots of different positions, but I'm now mainly a centre back. I'm a technical player on the ball and I like to defend. There is a lot of work for us to in the second half of the season and it's important that we win as many games as possible."

Henson, who inked an 18-month contract earlier this week, will wear the No. 27 jersey for the Pride.
