London City Lionesses complete acquisition of 23-acre training ground

Updated: 3 days ago

We’re excited to confirm our acquisition of London City Lionesses’ training ground, creating an exclusive practice facility for our First-Team and Professional Game Academy squads with immediate effect.

Purchasing the 23-acre site and converting it into a bespoke training facility is the next step in our mission to become the world’s preeminent sports organisation under the ownership of Michele Kang.

“I’m delighted to announce that London City Lionesses are now the official and sole owner of our training ground – this means we now have a dedicated training facility spanning nearly 24 acres, which we are looking to redevelop and professionalise,” said Kang of the Aylesford, Kent facility.

“I’m committed to providing the best playing and training environments for my teams, and this actually marks the first of my three clubs to own their own training facilities. “I’m excited by our plans for our training ground, where we can truly train women as women.”

Following an initial wave of renovations, the facility will be equipped with a world-class performance gym, newly-fitted changing facilities, upgraded office suites, two high-quality grass training pitches, and a full-sized artificial pitch.

Director of Football Ronald Thompson added: “The entire site is for us to use, which means we can focus on making the best playing surface we can and providing the best environment for our players and staff to work in.

“In the short-term, we’re working inside the buildings to create space for the players to recuperate after training, have analysis meetings, and refuel with performance in mind. Having all of those things will help us make sure our players always feel like the priority.

“Having exclusive use of the facility is absolutely everything because it means we can tailor everything – from gym equipment to changing rooms – so that they are designed specifically for female athletes, which means the First-Team and Academy will have access to everything they need.”
