Isobel Goodwin completes permanent transfer to London City Lionesses from Sheffield United

We’re thrilled to announce that Isobel Goodwin has joined London City Lionesses from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee, with the 21-year-old forward signing a multi-year contract at Hayes Lane.

Goodwin, a former England Under-17 youth international, was a dominant performer in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season, scoring 15 goals in 19 league appearances for Sheffield United.

The Derby-born forward burnished her credentials as a prolific scorer a season earlier, finding the back of the net four times and ten appearances during a six-month spell at Coventry United.

“The Club’s ambitions are in line with mine,” said Goodwin, “the season ahead will be huge for London City and I really wanted to be a part of it.

“I’m hoping to score as many goals as I can for the team this season, helping us reach our collective target. From the first conversation I had with the Club, it was very clear that the plan and vision for the future is very exciting. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

London City Lionesses head coach Jocelyn Prêcheur added: “Firstly, Isobel’s profile is one that we didn’t have amongst our forwards – she is a strong, athletic player, who likes to attack the space behind the defenders. It’s very good news that she has signed with us.

“Secondly, she is young, perfectly adapted to the project, and has the required qualities to become one of the best strikers in England – and we will work on that. She will develop with the team.

“Despite the fact that she is very young, she had a very good season last year and I’m very confident that she will be a great asset for the team.”

Goodwin – who is available for selection for our season-opening showdown against Newcastle United – will wear the No. 23 shirt this season.
