Grace Neville & Amy Rodgers join London City Lionesses' 50-appearance club

Grace Neville and Amy Rodgers became the latest players to be inducted into London City Lionesses' 50-appearance club, with each receiving praise from interim head coach Nikita Runnacles in her latest media availability.

Neville arrived at Princes Park from Arsenal's academy ahead of London City's inaugural season and has been a mainstay at the Club ever since.

“Grace has been at the Club for a long period of time,” said Runnacles. “It’s great that we have numerous players at the 50-appearance mark because it shows the direction we are heading in and the value that our players have contributed.

"Grace has worked really hard around the Club and has now been recognised by the New Zealand national team. She’s a really valuable part of London City."

Neville made her 50th appearance for London City on Sunday, 26 March versus Durham, playing in defence alongside Carly Girasoli — who is also full of praise for the 22-year-old.

"Grace always works hard on and off the pitch, so it’s great to see her hitting the appearance milestone," said Girasoli. "She’s put in so much effort for London City and New Zealand, hopefully she’s going to be selected for the World Cup."

Rodgers joined London City from Liverpool ahead of the 2021-22 season and has rapidly grown into an on- and off-field leader.

The 22-year-old has been an ever-present starter this season, with appearances in midfield and defence.

"This is Amy’s second season here and her leadership skills have really helped grow the team," said Runnacles.

"She’s really good at those individual touchpoints with players and only wants the best for the Club and her teammates. She’s done a really sterling job for us this year, especially when she had to play in a position that is a little bit outside her comfort zone.

"Amy has orchestrated everything that happens in midfield since stepping back into the position. She’s a really big asset for us and how we play."

Added Girasoli: “Amy is one of our leaders and I think we’ve seen how versatile to she is this season. She can play in midfield or defence, which means she’s definitely a good player to have."

Rodgers made her 50th appearance for the Club in our 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Sunday, 2 April.

Amy and Grace, congratulations on hitting the 50-appearance plateau and thank you for your service to the Club!
