London City Lionesses is thrilled to announce the permanent transfer of highly-rated forward Lotta Lindström from Finnish side HJK on a three-and-a-half-year contract, subject to visa clearance.
The Finland international has proven herself to be a prolific scorer at the senior level, winning the Kansallinen Liiga Golden Boot in her rookie season with 17 goals in 23 first-division appearances.
Lindström made her senior debut for Finland in December, appearing as a second-half substitute as the Boreal Owls drew 2-2 with Slovakia in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.
“Lotta is a talented young forward who is technically-gifted and smart,” London City Lionesses head coach Carolina Morace said of the 19-year-old attacker.
“I like to have two players for each position, with Lotta creating strong competition between our forwards with Paige Satchell returning from injury soon. She is a very impressive player and we are excited to welcome her to the Club.”
Lindström, who is known for her ability to break the offside trap and score in all situations, added: "I have always dreamed about playing in England, but I thought that I would start my professional career in another country before coming here.
"When the chance to join London City presented itself, it felt like an opportunity that I needed to take. I admire the Club's plans for the future, I am very excited to be a part of those plans, and I believe that this is a very good environment for me to develop.
"I am very motivated to win and score goals. I know that this new league will be a challenge for me, but I trust that I can adapt to it quickly and help the team to win."
Lindström is projected to become available for matchday selection later this month, as we await the completion of the usual visa and regulatory processes.
