London City Lionesses is thrilled to announce the arrival of experienced defender Megan Campbell following the expiration of her contract with Barclays Women's Super League side Everton.
The 30-year-old arrives at Princes Park with a wealth of professional and international experience, tallying more than a century of combined appearances for Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, and the Republic of Ireland.
Campbell, a 47-cap international for the Girls in Green, was twice named to the ACC All-Academic Team during her three-season collegiate career at Florida State University, helping the Seminoles record ten consecutive postseason clean sheets in 2015.
The Drogheda-born centre-back signed an 18-month contract with the Pride on transfer deadline day, making her available for selection for our upcoming Barclays Women’s Championship fixture against Blackburn Rovers.
“I'm quite a physical defender and I like to be on the ball,” said Campbell of her stylistic approach, "I like to be in possession and play on a winning team. Defensively, I'm vocal, and hard in the tackle.
“Joining London City is a new challenge, with new surroundings and new teammates, but I'm looking forward to what's ahead."
When asked about the arrival of the Irishwoman, head coach Carolina Morace added: "It is very important for us to have someone in the team with Megan's specific skillset. I need to have a centre-back who is left-footed, so I'm excited to see what she can offer."
