Charlton Athletic 1, London City Lionesses 1.

Kosovare Asllani’s last-gasp free kick in the 96th minute secures a dramatic point for the Pride at The Valley.

Jocelyn Prêcheur’s team threw everything forward in the final stages of their clash with Charlton Athletic in the Women’s Championship, but it was Kosovare Asllani who equalised for the Pride in the 96th minute.

Her goal cancelled out Katie Bradley’s penalty, which put the Addicks ahead with 77 minutes played.

London City Lionesses started the better of the two sides, creating more chances than the hosts, with Asllani orchestrating most chances from midfield.

The first big chance fell to Teyah Goldie, who met a cross from Asllani with force, but her header sailed just too high to break the deadlock in the 22nd minute.

Goldie was called into action ten minutes later at the other end, heroically throwing her body on the line to block Emma Bissell from scoring.

The Addicks grew stronger as the first 45 minutes players out, with Mel Filis catching a sweet outside-of-the-foot volley which curved just around the post in the 38th minute.

Katie Bradley had a golden opportunity to score from a dangerous free kick for Charlton after 40 minutes, but bent it just around the post.

The Pride pushed for a goal early into the second half, with Izzy Goodwin getting two shots on goal in the 48th and 59th minute.

Julia Roddar then tried her luck, bursting into the box from midfield to latch onto the end of Asllani’s smart move, but Charlton defending it well.

The Addicks were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute, which was converted by Katie Bradley in the South London sun.

London City piled on the pressure in the late stages of the game, but it was Asllani who delivered in the dying embers to come in clutch for the Pride.

Taking a point from the Valley keeps the race between the top two tight, with London City one win away from levelling Birmingham City on points.

Despite the two points dropped, Prêcheur will heart from his sides resilience, knowing that with the talent in his squad, they are never out of a game.
