The London City Lionesses are pleased to announce that Angela Wilson has joined the team as our Sports Chaplin.
Angela joins the Lionesses as part of the Sports Chaplaincy UK charity group, to offer pastoral support for the players.
“I became involved in sports chaplaincy when it was announced at my church that they were looking for a chaplain to be here for London City Lionesses,” she said, “and I thought, what an amazing opportunity.
“I’ve been involved in sport all my life, first as a swimmer, then a runner, and now running my own swimming school.
“So when I looked up the team and saw how engaging and encouraging the girls were and the achievements they wanted to achieve, I felt that I could come in and bring some kind of wisdom, experience and encouragement to them.”
Angela went on to add:
“I’m also keen to learn as much as possible myself, as I’ve never been involved in football myself.
“But mostly, I'm excited about building the relationships with the girls, and seeing what the future holds here at London City.”
Speaking on the appointment, Sporting Director Edward Gallagher had this to say:
"Player care is important to us here at London City Lionesses,” he said, “and we want to have as many different avenues for the players as possible.
“Angela comes with a wealth of experience at the elite end of sport having represented Great Britain as a swimmer.
“She understands the pressure of competing and will provide the players with support in all aspects of their lives."
Angela joins the Lionesses as the latest new members of staff, following the appointment of Marc Lamberts as a Recruitment Analyst Intern and the internal appointment of Nikita Runnacles as Assistant Coach.
